A Minimalist Home Inspired by Nature
Smeram is a minimalist, eco-conscious home nestled in the greenery of Manakodam near Thuravoor, Kerala. Designed with simplicity and function at its core, the home features exposed concrete, white walls, and large open spaces that invite light and airflow. It was envisioned as a retreat that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings while providing a peaceful, modern lifestyle.
The two-storied structure houses four bedrooms, a hall, and a kitchen. A small indoor garden with a plumeria and small bamboos grows from inside on a stretch of synthetic lawn, highlighting the formal living space. Courtyards covered by pergolas with glass coverings ensure a fresh flow of air inside and out.
The house incorporates automation techniques and automated watering systems for the terrace plants. Indirect lighting enhance the visual effect of the interiors. The house stands on a sprawling 22 cents of land, beautifully landscaped with a small pond in the front, enhancing the landscape’s layout.
With nature as its theme and feel, Smeram lives up to its name on every count—smile and keep smiling!
